Roast My Resume respects the personal information customers provide when using the service.
This Privacy Policy explains the types of information we may collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you.
1. Information you provide
Depending on how you use Roast My Resume, you may provide information such as:
- your resume
- employment history, education, skills, and professional accomplishments
- the role you are targeting and any job posting you paste in
- anything you tell Rory while editing
- your name, email address, and LinkedIn profile if you book a consultation
- customer support messages
A resume may contain additional personal information that you choose to include.
Please avoid uploading information that is unnecessary for your resume or the service you are requesting.
2. What we keep
The resume file you upload is read to extract its text and is not stored. The extracted text is sent to our AI provider to produce your roast and rewrite, and is not stored either.
What we do store, against your order, is:
- the roast and score we produced
- the rewritten resume, your edits to it, and the version you finalize
- the target role, job posting, and any extra facts you supplied
- a record of the purchase, including which tier and whether a promo code was used
This is what lets you come back and download the files you paid for, and what lets us answer questions about an order.
3. Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe’s own checkout page and are never sent to or stored by Roast My Resume.
Stripe collects payment, billing, fraud-prevention, and transaction information according to its own privacy policy. We keep a reference to the Stripe session and the time payment was confirmed.
4. Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider records standard technical information when you visit the site, such as IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, timestamps, and error diagnostics.
Roast My Resume does not use analytics tools or advertising trackers, and sets no cookies of its own. Your progress through the flow is held in your own browser’s session storage and is cleared when you close the tab. The consultation booking calendar is embedded from Calendly, which sets its own cookies and is covered by its own privacy policy.
5. How information is used
We use information to:
- provide resume analysis and rewriting services
- generate the PDF and Word files you download
- personalize a resume for a target role
- operate the Rory editing experience
- process and verify purchases and promotional redemptions
- provide customer support
- prevent fraud or misuse
- improve service reliability and product quality
- comply with legal obligations
6. AI processing
Your resume text and the details you supply are processed by an AI provider, reached through Netlify’s AI Gateway, in order to produce your roast, your rewrite, and the edits you ask Rory for.
We do not use your resume to train AI models, and we do not sell or share your information for advertising.
7. Service providers
The providers that process information on our behalf are:
- Netlify — hosting, the application database, and the AI gateway
- OpenAI — the model behind the roast, rewrite, and editing
- Stripe — payment processing
- Calendly — scheduling for the LinkedIn consultation
These providers process information according to their contracts with us and their own privacy practices.
8. Data retention
We keep the order records described above for as long as needed to provide the service, allow you to download work you paid for, keep business and transaction records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
Roast My Resume does not currently delete this information automatically after a set period. If you want your information removed, write to us and we will delete it.
9. Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect customer information.
No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
10. Your choices
Depending on applicable law and the functionality available, you may be able to request:
- access to certain personal information
- correction of inaccurate information
- deletion of certain personal information

11. Children’s privacy
Roast My Resume is not intended for children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so the issue can be reviewed.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product, providers, or legal requirements change.
